The other native Californian in the band, bassist Greg Zachan, was born and raised in Orange County. Greg's fascination with the bass came about at a very young age, but it was not until high school that he picked up the instrument. Some of his early influences included the sounds of Hendrix and Pink Floyd. However, it was upon hearing Phish, and the bass lines of Mike Gordon, for the first time that he realized what could really be done with the bass. Recent influences come from a wide range of music including: classical, funk, bluegrass, and everything in between. Throughout the years Greg has taken courses in music theory and also had the opportunity to study at the Faunt School of Music. The combination of his formal training and influences have aided in his ability to lay down thumping lines, while also expanding his creative songwriting output.
